Media technologies were significant in the construction, research and planning and evaluation stages of the media coursework. Before starting the construction of the magazine advert, I carried out research and planning on the conventions of real magazine adverts which helped during the making of my product. I used the internet and YouTube a lot during pre-production to research different music videos that in the end influenced my work and gave my ideas for my own video. The main search engine I used was google as it was set up to my computer. I also accessed other website such as blogger, youtube and google images through google. When choosing the song that I wanted to create a music video for I used the Spotify app to find potential songs as it I could access it on my iphone, ipad and computer. I could add potential songs to a playlist which made picking a final song easier. I also listened to music through Spotify when carrying out the research and planning to understand music genres and existing music videos. As part of my research and panning I created a twitter account for my artist in hope that people would leave feedback, ideas, or comments for my music video. However due to it being a new account with few followers there was little feedback left on the page. I kept all this research and planning on a digital blog through a website called blogger which allowed all my work to be store in one place in which both me and my teacher could view the work. Comments could be and were left on the blog by my peers and teachers in order for me to improve my work and ensure my products appealed to my target audience. My teachers also had a blog through the website blogger which contained the work I need to complete as well help sheets and other resources which helped me during the research and planning and the construction of the magazine advert. This research and planning had to be published and embedded onto the blog using formats such as ‘Slideshare’ and ‘Scribd’ which allows the work to be view on the blog in a more interesting way. These sites were also access through google on my MacBook. I constructed the magazine advert on Photoshop using the mac computer we have in school as photoshop is a professional software which is used when creating real music magazine adverts. The software made both the digipak and magazine advert to look realistic. I used the app Pinterest for inspiration for the image on my magazine advert as it allowed me to save images I liked to a board. The image on the magazine advert was taken on my iPhone 6S as this had a good 4K camera quietly. I further used my iPhone to check my blog and teacher’s blogs when I wasn’t able access a computer. I also used Gmail to email this image over to my computer for the construction of the advert as well as using emails when communicating with peers or my teachers.
